OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head men’s basketball coach Jack Owens announced that Darrell "Bam" Bowman (Bowling Green, Ky./Warren Central/Shawnee CC) will be transferring to the RedHawks after spending last season at Shawnee Community College. Bowman will be active beginning with the 2017-18 season and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

"Bam is a polished young player who will be able to help us right away," said Owens. "He’s a big body with good hands and good feet who provides us with a low-post scoring presence."

Bowman is a 6-8 power forward who averaged 9.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for Shawnee last season. His top game came against Southeastern Illinois on Nov. 30, 2016 when he had a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. He had 15 double-digit scoring efforts for the Saints.

Bowman was a four-year letterwinner for Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was honorable mention All-State his senior year. He led the Wigwam to the District Championship in 2016, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Bowman joins Jalen Adaway (Logansport, Ind./Logansport), Isaiah Coleman-Lands (Indianapolis, Ind./La Lumiere School), Darrian Ringo (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg/Eastern Arizona/Midland), Dalonte Brown (Toledo, Ohio/Bowsher) and Nike Sibande (Indianapolis, Ind./Crispus Attucks) as part of Coach Owens’ first recruiting class.
